Let’s get right into the next Big Tip… #4!

Big Tip #4: Keep Exercise Fun

Yes, exercise is technically “work,” but don’t forget that it can also be fun!

In fact, I recommend you make it fun, because again, the point is that you’ve committed to making exercise a part of your life for the rest of your life, right?

So then, making it fun for yourself is going to ensure that it’s something you not only continue to do for a very long time, but it’s also something you enjoy or maybe even look forward to – imagine that!

Keep in mind that “fun” looks and feels different for everyone.

For instance, some find swimming fun, while I simply don’t.

But I find sports fun, while others loathe the thought of physical competition.

What about you?

What do you find fun?

And how do you even know it’s fun?

In my opinion, I think you know you’re having fun when you’re smiling.

For example, last year, I took my ladies kayaking during our retreat.

As I looked around, I saw smiling faces all around me.

Sure, some were uncertain when they got into the kayak, but once we took off, they were paddling and working hard, but it was enjoyable.

Whether it’s hiking, biking, swimming, competing, or my favorite, playing, think about what you might find fun.

And like my ladies at the retreat, some didn’t think kayaking would be fun until they tried it, so don’t be afraid to try something new.

Experiment, get curious, and get out of your comfort zone.

You can try something new each month and see what you find fun.

There are so many things you can dip your toe in – yoga, kickboxing, stand-up paddle boarding, dancing – the list goes on!

Check out what activities your local community center offers or drop in for a free class somewhere to try it out.

One of my clients joined a belly dancing class recently and loves it!

While laughing at how uncoordinated she finds herself at times, she also gets a great workout.

If anything, midlife is a time of exploration, self-discovery, and in my opinion, learning how to care less about what people think.

You’re in it for the long haul, right?

So get out there and try something that’s always intrigued you because it looks fun.

You never know what you might enjoy.

Check in with yourself during it.

Are you smiling, laughing?

If so, you might have just found your next fun, physical activity.
