midlife happiness

The Liebster Award: Get to Know Me and Other Bloggers!

Fellow blogger Suzanne Stavert of Adventures of Empty Nesters nominated me for the Liebster Award, which is an award for bloggers to recognize and get to know other bloggers. I had to answer some questions about myself, then I get the opportunity to nominate a few other bloggers to participate. Check out some of the blogs I nominate at the end – I think you’ll really like them! Thanks, Suzanne!

Here are the questions Suzanne asked me to answer:

  1. What makes you happy?

What makes me especially fulfilled is when I wake up in the morning to a message from a client who had a breakthrough or “a-ha” moment since our last session and wants to tell me all about it. Celebrating my clients’ transformations with them is an incredible feeling.

  1. Why did you start blogging?

With the on-going advances in technology and health care, it won’t be uncommon for us to live to 100 years old. That means that your 50’s can literally be called “midlife.” I wanted to offer hope, motivation, encouragement, and helpful tips, tools, and strategies that women in midlife could use in order to live joyful and healthy in the second half of their lives.

  1. What is the best thing anyone has ever said about your blog?

Over the past few years of writing my blog, I have been honored to receive several messages of appreciation that my approach is positive and optimistic, with the belief that midlife is not the end, rather a beautiful opportunity to reinvent yourself.

  1. What is one piece of advice you would offer or one saying you live by?

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” –T.S. Eliot. In other words, get out of your comfort zone – that’s where the magic happens!

  1. What are your top three bucket list items?

1.To become a major influencer of women uplifting women around the world.
    2.  To create a life of time, money, and location freedom.
    3.  To eat food prepared by world-class chefs around the world.

  1. What is your ultimate guilty pleasure?

I love popcorn and on occasion make it at home to munch on while watching a movie. My two favorite simple recipes are popping it with coconut oil and sea salt or rosemary garlic olive oil and sea salt.

  1. What is one product or service you cannot live without?

I love Apple products like my Macbook Pro and iPhone 6. Apple has mastered simplicity, quality, and innovation – things I admire in a company’s values.

  1. What is your favorite U.S. destination?

New York City is my favorite so far, but I must say that I also love Pasadena, CA, where I currently live. It’s a somewhat big city, but with a small town feel. There are great restaurants, unique shopping, and outstanding coffee and tea shops. It also houses a wide variety of ethnicities, ages, and lifestyles. There’s great history, beautiful architecture, museums, and some of the best education in the country. Every weekend in Pasadena there’s something fun going on, like art walks and concerts in the park. Plus, walking and cycling is encouraged instead of driving, which makes for healthier and happier people and an overall friendlier community.

  1. What two countries make you the happiest to visit?

I have been to Taiwan and a few countries in South America, but I have yet to go to Europe. Some European countries I would like to visit are Denmark, Amsterdam, and Greece.

  1. What is your dream destination?

My dream destination is The Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti in Tanzania. I would find it an incredible experience to lounge on the terrace and watch as lions, zebras, elephants, and giraffes pass by!

I had fun answering these questions! I now nominate the following bloggers to answer these questions as well. I hope they accept this award because I can’t wait to read their responses!

Kathy Marris of 50 Shades of Age

Heidi Sloss of The Magic of Mothering

Anne Boyd of Am I Vintage Yet?

Judy Freedman of A Boomer’s Life After 50

Betsy Lewis of The Walkabout Woman

Thanks for reading! I’d love to get to know YOU more as well. Would you care to answer a few of the questions? Please comment below!

Wishing you joyful health in your 50’s,
Kim
