If You Want To Transform, This Must Happen PART II

In Part I, I explained that in order for transformation to occur in our lives, something must die. If you missed that post, you can read the full post here.

Today, I’m going to conclude by giving you Part II, where I talk about what else needs to happen if you want to make a healthy change in your life. Read on…

If you choose to proactively transform your life, understand that it’s going to take a deep desire to have something better than you have now. It’s going to take a conscious commitment to staying inspired and keeping your eye on the vision of your best self for motivation, especially when the times get tough.

Then, as you begin to change and continue on, you must find delight in the journey of transformation. Change is oftentimes painful and grueling, but deep down you know it’s the right thing to do. You’ve made the commitment and you’re sticking to it, no matter what, and you can foresee what your life will look like if you don’t make a change. Plus, you must believe that although you may not always feel it at times, you’re getting stronger, more resilient, and growing in character. Helen Keller once said, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.”

We all have areas we can do better in. Some are small, while some are big. There is no doubt that there will be times when we are hit over the head with an unfortunate occurrence and must react immediately. The greatest thing we can do is prepare for those times as best we can and then deal with them when they come. However, there may be one area of your life today that needs an overhaul, a transformation, a renovation that you can proactively take action on now. But understand this, nothing will change and no action steps will be taken, especially if things aren’t “that” bad. We must foresee what will happen down the line if we don’t make a change, if we keep unhealthy habits. Again, changing direction is hard, especially when we haven’t hit rock bottom. It requires that we let go of the anchors that tie us down and allow our old ways, habits, behaviors, and fixed mindset to die.

So, what needs to die today? Maybe it’s your fixed mindset that things are just going be like this and there’s nothing you can do about it. Maybe it’s your unhealthy eating habits that are leading you toward weight gain and possible disease down the road. Maybe it’s the “less-than-great” habitual routine of poor choices you’ve been making everyday for as long as you can remember. Maybe it’s some of the negative people and energy vampires that you’re surrounded with on a regular basis.

Maybe today is the day you make a change even if it takes some effort. Maybe today is the day you commit to better health habits and a thriving life.  I’m committed to a thriving life and I hope you are too.
